All in Tough Stuff
The most disturbing thing to me in the aftermath of the Insurrection on Wednesday is the number of my family and friends who would have been 100% ok if it had succeeded. An election was held, and because people don't like the results - which have been verified over and over again - they think it's ok to topple a democracy that generations of people have bled for and built.
Go easy on yourself. You're not going to 'do' the coronavirus perfectly. In fact, there is no way to 'do' the coronavirus perfectly. You're going to freak out, feel scared, get angry, be bored, obsess, waste time... You're a human being under an incredible amount of stress.
Mother's Day. Gosh, so many beautiful mothers to celebrate. And, it can be a tough day for some as well. Maybe you wanted to be a mother, but it just didn't happen for you. Maybe, like me, your body carried many babies for a while, but for whatever reason wasn't able to sustain life for long enough.
Why can men's bodies be funny AND sexy, strong AND goofy, flabby AND endearing? It's that AND that I'm most interested in. How can we as a culture add some more AND to our perceptions of women's bodies?
I have recently caught myself more than once saying or thinking, “Oh my Gawd! Don't SAY that!" And it bothers me because I'm a big freedom of speech gal. But, here lately ‘freedom of speech' seems to be more like ‘freedom to be an asshole & purposely hurt other people' & I'm not down with that.
I failed. (And yes, I'm a winner for trying, blah, blah, blah and other inspirational stuff) I won't get into all the feedback I got, but basically, my book is paced too slowly for modern teenagers.
